SPORTING SUCCESS FOR REPTON PREP
Repton Prep’s U13 and U12 Girls’ recently competed in the IAPS Hockey National Finals, with the U13s securing silver medals and the U12s spectacularly taking gold. The U13 Boys' football team also competed in the national finals which typically culminated in a penalty shoot out… Mrs Mansfield reports below:
Huge congratulations to the U13 Hockey National Finals girls' hockey squad, who competed quite superbly. The girls reached the final having won all their matches in style. In the final they played superbly once again and drew the game 2-2. They were very unfortunate not to win the game in normal time having numerous chances. The game went to penalty flicks to decide the title and unfortunately Gresham’s managed to put their final one away to take the title. To place second nationally is a fantastic achievement.
The following day the U12 Girls squad played in their National final on home turf at Repton. The girls performed superbly and really did step up their game. Having played some fabulous hockey throughout the day to reach the final the performance of the day certainly was the final game. A high tempo display from Repton with some great hockey and superbly taken goals sealed the victory. Congratulations to all the girls IAPS U12 National Champions and thoroughly deserved.
The U13 Boys also completed in the IAPS National football finals and having lost 1-0 in a closely fought semi-final found themselves in the bronze medal match. After an end-to-end game like the U13 girls it ended in a draw and went to penalties. A tense penalty competition ended in Repton taking the 4th place spot and just missing out on the bronze medal, nevertheless a fine achievement.
Congratulations to all we are very proud of you and how you all represented yourselves and the School on the field of play.
