NEURODIVERSITY CELEBRATION WEEK
Neurodiversity Celebration Week runs from 15- 21 March 2021 and provides an opportunity to highlight and showcase talents of the neurodiverse community.
The term neurodiversity is used to accept that brain differences are normal, rather than deficits and this can have benefits for children with learning and thinking differences. The concept can help to reduce stigma around learning and thinking differences.
Pupils at Repton Prep have been engaging in activities around the theme this week. As well as a school assembly on the topic, pupils have spent time learning about the importance of inclusion and empathy and have worked on creating displays that celebrate neurodiversity in the classrooms.
Speaking in Assembly, Repton Prep’s Head of Learning Enhancement, Mr Alexander Wilde, encouraged pupils to embrace their unique differences: “We recognise the many strengths of Repton Prep pupils: your creativity, innovation, ability to think outside-the-box, problem-solving skills, unique insights and perspectives, perseverance and resilience. You are the dreamers. The pioneers. The change-makers. The future business leaders. You are the trailblazers. The adventurers. The discoverers. You are the Einsteins of tomorrow…”
