SPORT
CRICKET
Across its history, Repton School has produced more than 150 first-class cricketers, three Test captains, and players that include the country’s greatest ever sportsman, C B Fry, to the game’s modern era, Canadian international Nitish Kumar and Ross Whiteley of Worcestershire CCC.
Cricket is enjoyed by boys and girls of all abilities at Repton, under former Sussex and Durham Cricketer, Martin Speight as Director of Cricket. Teams have a varied fixture list and includes national competitions, a challenging school circuit, and games against county age groups and academies.
The Winter programme begins in October incorporating elements of skill development, tactical awareness, mental preparation and specific strength and conditioning in addition to indoor competitions for boys and girls. We have strong links with Derbyshire CCC and neighbouring county cricket clubs (Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Warwickshire) with many pupils involved in their performance pathways. We work closely with external performance managers to provide an integrated development plan, including regular use of Derbyshire CCC’s indoor facilities during the winter months to hone the technical skills of our athletes, over and above the regular use of our Sports Centre where we have multiple indoor nets and bowling machines.
Regular one to one sessions take place throughout the school day, all year around, meaning that aspiring professional cricketers obtain the regular and quality coaching required to push to the next level. The 1st XI games are live-streamed online and video analysis software is used to give individual player feedback packages to help improve performance.
Whether your ambition is to play at the highest level or to participate in fun yet competitive House matches, Repton gives young cricketers the broadest and most enjoyable cricketing experience during their time at School to instil a lifelong love of the game.
